The Creative Mentor - Welcome

Welcome!

This is the resource blog that co-insides with The Creative Mentor Podcast project I started for green designers. Personally I think that there is a lot of gate keeping in the creative industry and we are all kept in the dark about industry standards, as well as wages. We don’t know where to turn to learn the things we don’t know about the business side of our industry. This project is meant to break that down.

I’m a graphic designer with 9 years of experience in the design industry. I’ve worked for great bosses, and shitty bosses. I’ve worked for mom and pop shops, and global corporations. I’ve been a team of 1, and in a team of 8 or more. Worked with Creative Directors, as well as design by committee. I’ve moved across the country twice working for myself, as well as companies. From production design to conceptual advertising I’ve tried it all! I’m just a mall goth trying to figure out how to make the most of my creativity for money and frankly, it should not be this much of a mystery.

So if art school didn’t teach you shit about getting a creative job, I will.
